Practice Membership of the AAQS

Membership of the AAQS was initially restricted to national institutes, institutions, associations or societies which represent a body of quantity surveyors in sovereign countries in Africa. No membership existed for practices and/or individual members

With effect from July 2011 the Council of the AAQS has now resolved to open up a separate membership category for Quantity Surveying practices. This decision was taken following ongoing requests from practices for such a category of membership to be introduced. Numerous practices had expressed the wish to become more directly involved with the affairs and activities of the AAQS and the formation of such a membership category would serve to formally enable this process to be regularised

Benefits of Practice Membership

The benefits to quantity surveying practices becoming members of the AAQS inter alia include the following:

  • Exposure to the practice (within own country as well as the rest of Africa). This may be achieved by widespread exposure on the AAQS website, at all congresses and events organised by the AAQS and in AAQS publications
  • Contact with other member quantity surveying practices within the other member countries in Africa
  • Exchange of information and technology between member practices
  • Access to information such as standard model documentation including pricing data, fee structures, building agreements in use, standard methods of measurement in use, etc
  • Enhanced brotherhood of quantity surveyors in Africa
